Bitcoin Pizza Day Party!
Details
🍕🟧 Bitcoin Pizza Day Party & Orange Parade! 🟧🍕
Join us to celebrate Bitcoin Pizza Day: the legendary day in 2010 when two pizzas were purchased for 10,000 BTC by Laszlo Hanyecz, marking the first real-world Bitcoin transaction.
To honor the occasion, we’re hosting a Bitcoin Pizza Day Party in full orange spirit!
🟧 Dress Code: ORANGE!
Wear as much orange as possible: hats, shirts, shoes, costumes, whatever you've got. I’ll be showing up in an orange jumpsuit, and we’ll award a prize for the person showing the most Bitcoin spirit.
🌳 Bitcoin Flash Mob / Mini Parade
Before dinner, we’ll gather Gypsy Hill Park for a fun, spontaneous Bitcoin-themed walk / mini parade. Think orange clothes, Bitcoin shirts, maybe a few signs if you're feeling crafty, and lots of laughs. Nothing formal, just a fun way to celebrate Bitcoin in public.
🍕 Dinner at Mike and Mario’s
After the parade we’ll walk over to Mike and Mario’s for pizza.
They use Clover point-of-sale terminals, which partnered with Strike in 2023 to enable Bitcoin Lightning payments. I’ll be talking with the manager beforehand to see if Lightning payments are possible there.
If everything works out, we may be able to pay for our pizza using Bitcoin over the Lightning Network ⚡.
This is meant to be fun, relaxed, and a great chance to meet other Bitcoiners in the area.
Bring:
- Your orange gear 🟧
- A Lightning wallet (just in case!) ⚡
- Your Bitcoin enthusiasm ₿
Let’s celebrate the most delicious moment in Bitcoin history.
Schedule (approximate):
• Meet at Gypsy Hill Park 6 pm
• Bitcoin flash mob / orange parade 6:30 pm
• Walk to Mike and Mario’s for pizza 7:30 pm
• Award for best Bitcoin spirit 8:30 pm
Hope to see you there!
