Building Local Strength, One Conversation at a Time
Join us for our next gathering of the Sovereignty Salon, a welcoming space for Staunton-area neighbors who want to strengthen local resilience, build practical alternatives, and imagine what thriving communities can look like in uncertain times.
This month, we’ll open with a brief framing discussion and then break into small groups for collaborative brainstorming. Together, we’ll explore ways our community can become more self-reliant, better connected, and less vulnerable to disruptions: without politics, polarization, or pressure.
Topics will be grounded in simple, neighborly ideas such as:
- How a local services exchange could help people share skills and time (time banking)
- How a goods-swap board or “bring-what-you-can, take-what-you-need” model might support households
- How to educate ourselves and others about inflation, personal finance, and more resilient savings options
- How healthier online networks can strengthen real-world community
No expertise is needed just curiosity, goodwill, and a desire to build something meaningful together. All perspectives are welcome. Come meet thoughtful neighbors, contribute ideas, or simply listen and learn.
