What we’re about
Inspired by a project called “Homeworks”, a practical hands-on five-day residency for LGBTQ+ people which took place in the Common Knowledge Centre in the Burren, Ireland in June 2023.
The project identified barriers to LGBTQ+ people taking part in climate action activities including, prejudice, homophobia, and transphobia in the wider population. A need was identified for fully inclusive and accepting spaces in which LGBTQ+ people can enjoy working together and make unique contributions with their own skills and talents.
Here are some of the activities we hope to organise (list not exhaustive)
- Organising hands on activities such as clean-up of beaches, responsible planting, community gardens etc.
- Taking part in activities organized by other organisations as a group.
- Webinars and in person speaking events, speakers can be from withing the group or outside.
- Taking part in demonstrations and protests about the environment.
- Spreading awareness about the impact of climate change and what we can do about it.
- Social events to build connections between members.
