September Meetup

Queer&&Code is now hosted on Zoom! The link will be sent after you RSVP, if you encounter any issues or have accessibility requests/recommendations, contact the event organizer.

In the spirit of the long-running Beer&&Code (https://www.meetup.com/Beer-Code-Seattle/), Queer&&Code is a time and place for queer folks and allies to work on personal projects involving code. The event is unstructured, and is meant to be a place to work, meet new people, and help one another.

Whether you’re looking to meet other queer developers or work on a project, Queer&&Code can work for you. Choose your own adventure! You don’t need to be queer, but you do have to respect that Queer&&Code is a safe place for queer members of the developer community.

Not everyone is going to have the same goals for Queer&&Code, so here’s how you can help to make sure our events remain a positive experience for everyone:

• Respect personal space & boundaries

• Mention your pronouns during the event, or include them in your display name

• No sales pitches - whether for your project, yourself, or your company, this event isn’t about selling.

• Don’t drink too much

• No external groups - this isn’t a space for unsanctioned meetups within the meetup.

Attendees agree to abide by our Code of Conduct (adapted from Substantial.com’s Code of Conduct):

Queer&&Code is intended to be safe, actively anti-harassment place for our guests, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity & expression, sexual orientation, religion, disability, physical appearance. Misogyny, racism, homophobia, transphobia, bigotry, bullying, and violence of any kind are unacceptable and will not be be tolerated in any form.

In short, be nice.

Anyone who violates this Code of Conduct may be expelled from Queer&&Code, or subject to an open, transparent, survivor-centered accountability process.

Code of Conduct violations, and recommendations for changes, should be sent to any of the event hosts. Thank you for your help in making Queer&&Code a place welcoming to all of our community.
