I’m Your Venus is a deeply moving documentary directed by Kimberly Reed (known for Prodigal Sons and Dark Money) that revisits the life and legacy of Venus Xtravaganza, a trans woman whose story was immortalized in the landmark film Paris Is Burning. The documentary, which premiered at the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival, focuses on the efforts of Venus’s biological family—the Pellagattis—and the House of Xtravaganza to seek justice, honor her identity, and reclaim her legacy through legal avenues such as pursuing a posthumous name change and advocating for official recognition of her birthplace as a heritage site.
