The Queer Book Club Vienna is back in October with another captivating read: “Private Rites” by Julia Armfield, the acclaimed author of Our Wives Under the Sea. Hosted at the cozy and welcoming Villa Vida Café, this monthly meetup invites queer readers to connect, reflect, and discuss thought-provoking literature.

This month’s pick, Private Rites, explores the psychological and emotional aftermath of grief through a queer lens. With Armfield’s signature atmospheric style, the story focuses on three sisters haunted by the past and a house full of echoes. This deeply moving novel delves into queer identity, family secrets, and the rituals we hold onto in order to survive.
