Queer Book Club: As You Wake, Break the Shell
Details
What does it mean to find belonging in an unfamiliar world? And how can love, care, and community help us imagine different futures?
This November, our Queer Book Club is heading into space!
We're reading As You Wake, Break the Shell by Becky Chambers, a queer sci-fi story exploring survival, intimacy, autonomy, and the courage to challenge the systems around us.
Set on a distant planet where life is anything but easy, the story follows two women whose unexpected connection raises questions about collective responsibility, vulnerability, and what it means to truly live rather than simply survive.
Together, we'll explore queer love, found family, human and non-human relationships, and the possibilities of building more compassionate worlds.
Whether you're a sci-fi enthusiast, a curious reader, or simply looking for meaningful conversations within the queer community, you're welcome!
No literary expertise needed, and there's no pressure to speak. Listening is participating, too.
