This is our special winter solstice/end of year meeting where we start early, bring snacks, and do some extra socializing before the book discussion. Please bring some snacks and treats to share with with your fellow book lovers for the first two hours of our meeting.

At 7:30 we will discuss the acclaimed Alison Bechdel's (inventor of the Bechdel Test and author of the graphic novel turned musical, Fun Home) newest work, Spent: A Comic Novel. In it a cartoonist names Alison Bechdel is running a pygmy goat sanctuary in in Vermont while her first graphic novel about her taxidermist father is being adapted into a TV show. Can she pull humanity out of its death spiral by by writing a scathing self-critical memoir about her own greed and privilege? Let's find out. Friends are telling me they loved this work. It even made a reader out of a non-reader.
