Our April book is The Power, a 2016 science fiction novel (340 pages/12 hours) by Naomi Alderman. It won the UK’s Prize for Women's Fiction in 2017. This book club read her first novel Disobedance (the one where the lesbians share spit) in May 2019.

The Power was influenced by Naomi Alderman’s relationship with Margaret Atwood. It’s a book within a book: a manuscript of an imagined history of the tumultuous 21st century period when women suddenly develop the ability to release electrical jolts from their fingers.

Social half-hour starts at 6:30 and the book discussion starts around 7:00. We will be inside in the usual room. It's inside, past the bar, up the stairs, left through the door, and past the restrooms. Ask at the bar for directions.

Second Line should have a food truck/vendor out there.

Second Line asks that you not bring in any outside drink, even non-alcoholic ones. Please support Second Line, a place that gives us a space to meet for free.

We also recommend that you bring your own chair because it will be more comfortable than the ones Second Line provides.
