Meditation (noun): the practice of concentrated focus upon a sound, object, visualization, the breath, movement, or attention itself in order to increase awareness of the present moment, reduce stress, promote relaxation, and enhance personal and spiritual growth. \
Queer (noun): originally pejorative for gay. Now being reclaimed by some lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and transgendered and intersex (LGBTI) persons as a self-affirming umbrella term.

WELCOME!
Hi, and welcome to Queer Meditation. The group commenced in May 2015, and has found a meaningful place in the lives of many in our Queer Community.
We run in-person/streamed sessions most Mondays at 6:30pm. We take breaks on and around public holidays- these will be advised.
If you are unable to attend in person, please feel free to join us online.
People from anywhere in the world are welcome to join us online; we have participants from rural areas, interstate and overseas.
WHERE & WHEN: 6:30-7:30pm Mondays, Green Monday Studios, cnr Grattan & Lygon Sts, Carlton. Enter via Grattan St and come up the stairs to the first floor (unfortunately there are no lifts); we are in the Painting Room at the end of the corridor to your right. Please arrive in plenty of time to be settled in for a 6:30 start, as we need to close the door when the session commences.
COST: $7.50. You are invited to donate more if you wish. Bank details will be provided at the session. This assists with covering room hire, Meetup, Zoom, public liability insurance costs and other resources.
MEALS: you’re welcome to join us for dinner after each session at a local restaurant. Having dinner together is a great way of bonding, and has helped us build a very strong sense of community in addition to our meditation practice.
REGISTERING: Please register via Meetup if you are attending in person to give us an idea of numbers. NOTE: If you have RSVPd but can no longer attend, please amend your RSVP so we know not to wait for you.
You do not need to register if you’re going to be streaming.
WHAT TO BRING: a limited number of blankets, small cushions, yoga mats and folding chairs will be provided. You may wish to bring your own.
