Details

Hello all!

Join us for a gentle walk and reflection activity exploring four places in Vauxhall and Battersea! (The research project is focused on 18-30 year olds but older perspectives are just as valued too and all members are most welcome to join.) The route is wheelchair accessible. It is intended to be a friendly, fun, relaxed activity (approx 2hr), allowing us to chat, support each other, and explore, while helping Charles with his PhD research.
Charles is a queer neurodivergent PhD Researcher at King's College London. His research concerns neurodiversity and public urban spaces in London. He requires neurodivergent (or alternative) adults (diagnosed/self-identifying) who are willing to walk through a few public urban spaces with him, explore those spaces, and then complete a short survey in each space (all materials provided) on your experience of that space. All (willing) participants will choose a pseudonym, so survey responses cannot be traced back in any way to participants.

We will have a little task to give us a focus, and we can also have chats as we go along, and afterwards!

So here's the plan . . . We will meet by/near the entrance of Vauxhall City Farm at 1:30pm and explore the farm (group fee paid by Charles). We will then proceed to Bonnington Square Gardens, a housing co-operative established by squatters (like the farm) with lovely neighbourhood-run gardens, cafe etc. From there we will then take a stroll to Battersea Power Station waterfront to explore the new public spaces, before ending our walk at the Thrive gardens (neurodivergent social gardening) in Battersea Park. This seems an appropriate place to take a chill after our walk.

Please do bring some drinks with you and a snack. If you would like more information about the route and the survey we can share an information booklet and the survey questions with you.

This event is designed to be a safe space for queer, neurodivergent, and alternative individuals to relax and socialize together. You are very welcome to bring a friend along with you. If it becomes overstimulating, you can pause or withdraw at any point.

Vauxhall City Farm is a short walk from Vauxhall underground, train or bus stations, a 10 minute walk from Oval underground station and 20 minutes walk from Waterloo. The Thames Clipper stops at Vauxhall Pier.

We really hope you can join us for an enjoyable walk. Let's meet and express ourselves, talking about our lives and the places we encounter during the walk!
