Hello Queer Hikers,

The Croton Aqueduct trail between the Croton Dam has some of the nicest views. Let's hike this section in winter when leaves have fallen and views are unobstructed. The Croton Dam is spectacular this time of year. We won't hike to Ossining, which becomes residential, but will focus on the nicest parts around Croton Harmon and do a loop back to the train station.

This should be a relatively easy hike on the Croton Aqueduct trail which is flat and wide. There will be one section where we scramble down a narrow path on our way to the Croton Dam. We will need to pay attention to leaves and stones as well as patches of ice and maybe even snow.

Meet at the Grand Central information booth at 9:30. We will take the 9:56 to Croton Harmon arriving at 10:45. If you are driving meet the group at the Croton Harmon station where there are plenty of parking spaces.

Please buy your ticket before meeting the group. Purchase a round trip ticket to Ossining or Croton Harmon which are the same price (Approx $22.50 off peak).

Be ready for a 12 mile hike that I expect will take 5-6 hours.

Bring plenty of water and a packed lunch. We will have lunch at the Croton Dam though it might be a quick one due to the cold..

Follow the link for more details. Note I am reversing this hike and starting in Croton Harmon.

Maybe Uncle Charlies at Grand Central after?

Looking forward to seeing everyone. Phil
