9:00 A.M. Indian Tree Open Space Reserve (Big Trees) Hike, Vineyard Rd, Novato

Join us for a moderately difficult approximately 7.75 miles, 3 1/2 hour hike of the Indian Trees Open Space Preserve. The trailhead is located next to the residence of 3425 Vineyard Road, Novato. The paved road ends here, and a gravel road continues. Parking is on the gravel road. At the beginning of the trail, we will take a right on the Upper Meadow (it may be a bit muddy here) go through the beautiful lower redwood grove, follow the gradual, ascending switchbacks to the middle ridge. We will then continue the climb up to the Big Trees. The total elevation is approximately 1300'. We will stop for a snack and take in the view. We will head down the Indian Trees Fire Road, take a left on the Ship's Mast Trail and descend via gradual switchbacks. Most of the loop is shaded.

Bring water, a snack, appropriate clothing and hiking footwear. Let us know if you are joining us. We value everyone's time. We have a 5 minute wait policy. The hike will begin at 9:05 a.m.

Dogs are allowed on a leash.

Directions: From HWY 101, take the Atherton Ave/San Marin Drive exit. Head west on San Marin Drive. When you cross over Novato Blvd, San Marin Drive becomes Sutro Avenue. At Vineyard Rd take a right. The Trailhead is next to the residence at 3425 Vineyard Rd., where the pavement ends. Take note of the off street parking pattern.
