Quilling or paper filigree is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs. The paper is wound around a quill to create a basic coil shape. The paper is then glued at the tip and these shaped coils are arranged to form flowers, leaves, and various ornamental patterns similar to ironwork. During the Renaissance, French and Italian nuns and monks used quilling to decorate book covers and religious items. The paper most commonly used was strips of paper trimmed from the gilded edges of books. These gilded paper strips were then rolled to create the quilled shapes. Quilling often imitated the original ironwork of the day. (came from this site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quilling ) All supplies are bought by me and I bring them to every class. Each person that attends this class will learn the basic shapes of quilling, getting to play with quilling paper and make basic shapes with the instructions. I will also bringing scissors and glue. The person gets to take the project home with them. So the person coming to the class does not need to bring anything just themselves and their friends or family with their creative imaginations. I will sit and join you and walk you through every step until the end. Age Restriction: 10 to 90+ If you have problems with your hands or fingers this class may give you problems.
