What to expect from this workshop πŸ‘‡

Version control is no longer optional for data analysis, research, or collaborative projects. In this session, we introduce Git and GitHub through RStudio, using a practical, workflow-driven approach tailored to data scientists and analysts.

The focus is on how Git works inside RStudio, and how to move confidently between the editor, the Git pane, and the terminal when needed.

    We will cover:

    • What Git is and why it matters for reproducibility and auditability in data work
    • Core concepts as they appear in RStudio: repositories, commits, branches, and history
    • Using the RStudio Git pane to track changes, stage files, and commit safely
    • When and how to use GitHub for sharing work and collaborating with others
    • Common Git workflows for R projects, reports, and analyses

The session is designed for beginners and self-taught users who want a clear mental model of version control and practical habits they can apply immediately in their own RStudio projects.

No prior experience with Git is required.
    Bring curiosity and your laptop.
