#133 PUPMCR & other PUPX Packages: Advancing Research in Mycology & Chemistry

Details
For this meetup, Chester C. Deocaris will discuss the development of R packages, focusing on tools that bridge computational efficiency with scientific research. Key highlights include PUPMCR, designed for identifying fungal pigments based on Rayner's color terminology, and its upcoming RShiny version, which enhances interactivity for mycological applications. Chester will also cover PUPAIM, a package for adsorption isotherm modeling; PUPMSI, tailored for moisture sorption studies; and PUPAK, which aids in adsorption kinetics parameter estimation and visualization. The session will explore the motivation, development journey, and practical applications of these tools, showcasing their value in advancing research in mycology, chemistry, and beyond.
Chester is a teacher and researcher with over 15 years of experience using R programming in biochemistry, environmental science, and data analysis. Currently on study leave from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), he is pursuing a PhD in Green Chemistry and Sustainability at Chulalongkorn University. Chester has developed R packages such as PUPAIM, PUPMSI, PUPAK, and PUPMCR, which support adsorption studies, moisture sorption analysis, and fungal pigment identification. His work also includes bibliometric studies and environmental research, showcasing his dedication to applying R in scientific exploration and education.
