#76 Using R to study Epidemiological Metrics

We welcome back as speaker Dr. Peter Julian Cayton from UP School of Statistics, who had also been working hard alongside the UP COVID-19 Pandemic Response Team the past few weeks.
The presentation will discuss the measures used and devised by the UP COVID-19 Pandemic Response Team to monitor the pandemic situation in the country. They involve the following statistics: cumulative plots, percent changes, implied doubling times, and recovery rates. Epidemiology-specific measures will also be discussed, which are: 1) the time-varying reproduction number Rt, and 2) outbreak threshold statistics, along with a few dashboards.
The talk will focus on the approach, but also showing how R functions help us study Rt.
