In our first virtual meeting in months, Joanne Rodrigues will speak on:
Advanced Causal Inference for Product Analytics in R.
An introduction will cover: Translating Raw Data into “Actionable” Insights, Causal Inference vs Predictive Inference, Conceptualization, Operationalization and Metrics, and Intuition and storytelling with data.
Part II on advanced Advanced Techniques will cover Regression Discontinuity and Statistical Matching. Both sections will include a discussion of basic methods and pitfalls and provide an example of product analytics using R.
Part III will conclude the talk with a discussion of heuristics for causation and open questions.
Biography:
Joanne Rodrigues is an experienced data scientist, enterprise manager and entrepreneur with master degrees in mathematics (London School of Economics), political science (U.C. Berkeley) and demography (U.C. Berkeley) and a bachelor’s degree in international economics (Georgetown University). She’s the author of Product Analytics: Applied Data Science Techniques for Actionable Consumer Insights in Addison-Wesley’s Data and Analytics Series.
Her passion is to analyze large sets of structured, semi-structured and unstructured data to solve real world problems. She has six years of experience applying machine learning/statistical algorithms to derive business insights (in healthcare, gaming). She pioneered new analytics
techniques at Sony Playstation and led all of MeYou Health’s data science efforts. She is also the founder of health technology companies, ClinicPriceCheck.com and SlidingScaleHealth.org.
