Sutasoma 1: Bogor culinary and Wayang Golek Making

In this first Sutasoma chapter, we will experience the process of making Wayang Golek (wooden puppets) from scratch, including painting them ourselves according to the traditional pupuh rules passed down through generations. We are free to choose the character we wish to create—whether it be Rama or Shinta—and the finished masterpiece is ours to take home as a keepsake.

Beyond the craftsmanship, we will also dive into the harmonious world of Gamelan, an inseparable part of any puppet performance. Here, we have the opportunity to learn every instrument in the Sundanese Gamelan kit, from the Saron, Bonang, Peking, and Jenglong, to the Rebab and Kecrek. Along the way, we will stop at various scenic points to document our travel journal, ensuring every memorable moment is beautifully captured.

To bring the journey to a perfect close, we will explore the Surya Kencana area. From sweet snacks to hearty West Javanese signature dishes, a wide array of flavors is available for us to enjoy freely.
