Hi everyone!
I started this group because the mainstream dialogue regarding racism is finally starting to somewhat align with the realities of racism. This narrative shift combined with the present and future explosion of technology and social media has (in my opinion) created the first environment where a holistic solution to racism can be achieved. However, it is of paramount importance that most Americans are able to clearly and objectively identify the issue of racism for any actual solution to be successful. I am creating this group in an effort to advance my own and my community members' understanding of racism and its solutions.
ALL are welcome! You should join this group if you have questions about the current dialogue on racism, if you have an experience related to racism that you would like to share, if you are interested in discussing possible solutions to racism, or if you are interested in discussing a topic that many find taboo. While black Americans have spent a significant amount of time discussing racism with each other, the same is rarely true for other racial groups. This group is an opportunity to learn from each other about how to best combat racism in America.
At our events, we will open with the reading of a quote, poem, or article chosen by me. These writings can be from group members, civil rights icons, or others who have engaged in the study of racism. From there, we will discuss the reading/performance and have a conversation moderated by me. We will always end the session by talking about potential solutions and their feasibility, allowing our ideas for a remedy to be collected after each meeting. I hope to see you there!

Conversation Series 147 – Bob Danna
I met Bob via Walter Rhein on the Substack app, and I'm so glad I did. Bob quickly became a financial supporter of my antiracism work, and we both found that we have shared values we are passionate about promoting. After this conversation and after Bob witnessed my discussions with some other mutual creators about their evolution of race consciousness, Bob reached out to me about discussing his own racial awareness and activism journey. Naturally, I agreed! Bob has been an amazing supporter of so many independent journalists espousing our shared values, and he is an amazing role model for others who want to embrace anti-fascist, anti-racist, and anti-patriarchal ways of being. Join us as we delve deeply into Bob evolution of race consciousness, and put your comments and questions in the chat. I look forward to seeing you there!

OnlineMillie found me via one of my recent Conversation Series events with Nick Paro. You can check out that conversation here. Nick and I delved into his evolution of race consciousness, and Millie was gracious enough to express positive comments about the conversation. That spurned a private conversation between us, which turned into a Zoom call, which turned into an invitation for Millie to join me on The Contraband Wagon! Here's Millie's initial public comment about my conversation with Nick:
"I loved the discussion and would love to come on your show. Just an older woman married to a woman of color. I found many comments and the discussion very interesting. We have race discussions all the time in our house. Not many places where the discussions are held in a safe non threatening way. I mean that as the highest compliment. Peace to you and yours for the season however you celebrate. I stumbled onto the video and it was a pleasant find."
It was a well-received message, and it validates the importance of the work I'm doing creating a safe environment for conversations on race. I can't wait to hear about Millie's personal evolution of race consciousness and how that evolution was impacted by marrying a woman of color. •OnlineConversation Series 149 – Interracial Relationships in America and Abroad
OnlineAs many of you know at this point, I'm permanently leaving the United States with my partner, Luc. I've been searching for any resources that could help me with my transition, and that's where I discovered Elizabeth Silleck La Rue and her husband Wes. You can check out their respective Substacks here and here.
Elizabeth and Wes do amazing work with assisting people with the emigration process from the United States to countries around the world. I became a paid subscriber after reading the impeccably researched and thoroughly informative articles they regularly put out. I also value their philosophy of conscientious emigration, which you can read about on their website here.
Long story short we're all in interracial relationships, and Elizabeth and Wes have experienced varying racial dynamics in the United States and Mexico that may inform my future experience with Luc. Aside from that it's just not often that people in interracial relationships get to competently share notes about our experiences with other interracial couples (or anyone at all). So when Elizabeth suggested we make arrangements to have that conversation with each other and our partners, I jumped at the chance!
Join us as we delve into the trials and tribulations, both internal and external, of experiencing an interracial relationship in various geographical regions. We all have a ton to share, so it is bound to be an excellent exchange.
