Greetings, everyone! I'm thrilled to introduce the next guest on The Contraband Wagon who will be joining me for a 2-hour conversation on race, Dr. Joe-Joe McManus (our hundred-and-thirty-fifth Conversation Series event).

Dr. Joe-Joe has been a champion for equity, inclusion, and social justice for over three decades. During our prelivestream Zoom conference, we found that our conceptions of antiracism lined up quite well. One of the most important areas of resonance is our view that antiracism is a value that must be chosen. Indeed, my ultimate intention with The Contraband Wagon is to put as many to a choice as possible, publicly and privately.

Dr. Joe-Joe's new book coming out on January 7th discusses the insights he has gained through his personal story and professional experiences with race. In addition to discussing some of the content of the book, we'll find out about Dr. Joe-Joe's evolution of race consciousness, and we'll contemplate each others' ideas about making improvements to our toxic racial environment.
