Niels Rosenquist discusses the interaction of technology and mental health. Is there an association between social media use and bad mental health outcome? Niels is a trained psychiatrist and economist affiliated with the psychiatry departments at Mass General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. He is one of the co-creators of the world’s first global mood monitors using Twitter data, and his research on social networks and the genetic response to technological interventions has been featured in major national media publications. In addition to his academic work, he is the co-founder of JANYS analytics, a startup focused on large-scale data analysis of mood as well as a founding advisor of Rosetta Analytics, a fin-tech asset management firm. He serves as a staff psychiatrist at MIT's medical clinic.
