Lower Kern WW Rafting 21-22 July 2018
Lower Kern WW Rafting trip Sat & Sun – 21-22 July 2018 (Drive-up Friday eve 20th is requested.) NOTE: Sorry for the late announcement on this trip, but I was on a vacation in Costa Rica for 9 days. With the closure of Hobo campground, Sandy Flat is impacted and all reservable sites there are already taken. There are four non-reservable walk-up sites (#1,2,3,4) which may be available, but no guarantee. Plan B would be to find a site at Pioneer Point. Plan C is Keysville. If I can get four paddlers to sign up ASAP, I’ll try to reserve a site at Pioneer Pt. Lemme know…. I am planning on the Sandy Flat to Democrat run (Class IV, 12 miles) on Saturday, with a shorter trip on Sunday. This will be a private, shared expense trip. We'll run the entire section on Saturday and then repeat just the last five miles on Sunday. Prefer experienced rafters (at least 1 trip) but exceptions are possible. Gear: I’ll provide the boat, paddles, life jackets. You should bring good sandals or neoprene booties or old tennis shoes, a hat keeper if you like to wear hats, and inexpensive sunglasses with retainer. Wet suits are not required for this trip as the weather will be warm. Schedule: Drive up Friday eve. Arrive back in LA by 6 pm Sunday Food: TBD. Typically, I’ll provide two breakfasts and two lunches. We might go to a restaurant in Lake Isabella for dinner Saturday eve. (there will be further coordination on the food after sign-up.)

What we're about

Meet other local Whitewater Rafting enthusiasts and plan rafting trips!
Updated 8/6/08-
the following key will be used for your profile title:
“Raft owner” “Kayaker” or “Paddler” plus your city of residence

I have started this meet-up to facilitate private (non-commercial) whitewater trips for folks living in southern California. Often a raft owner is looking for paddlers or for a second boat to accompany him. Similarly, kayakers may be able to connect with others with similar boating skills /interests. I’m also hoping to facilitate carpooling to the river.
Membership – open to all persons with a penchant for WW. Note that persons in the non-boat owner category “Paddler” are expected to be comfortable in river water, are in good physical health, are willing to help with boating and camping chores, and enjoy meeting new people.
Website Finances: Select "Message Board". See Email dated 5/5/09 regarding donations to cover website fees.
