Camping & Glamping in Sussex

Camping at a very scenic campsite in the South Downs National Park in West Sussex. We will have campfires and barbecues. The campsite opened last year on a working farm a short distance from the South Downs Way. Site has new shower block and café on site. It is just 3 miles from the historic towns of Midhurst (Cowdray Park and Polo) and Petworth (stunning national trust gardens). Nearby are vineyards, medieval village churches and viewpoints over the national park.

On Saturday we plan an 11 mike walk from site along the South Downs Way. The route will include mostly ridge walking after the initial climb. Great views from Heyshott summit to the coast and far inland. We we return to site via Midhurst and Cowdray Park where we can visit the castle and possibly see some Polo. Barbecue and campfire in the evening.

On Sunday we plan a short walk to Bignor Roman villa which has some of the best mosaic floors discovered in Britain. Tea shop on site. Also options to visit Petworth House and Gardens. Plus Upperton Vineyards is short walk from camp site with wine tasting tours offered.

For those new to camping, we have spare tents and stoves etc. to lend out to people booking.
There is also a glamping option at the campsite with pre-erected tents for hire. Plus there are two airB&B cottages for hire on the estate (can stay at cottage and join rest for campfires, bbqs and all walks).

Refreshments - Self-catering on site. Site arranges catering as well. Village shop with pubs a short walk from site. Lots of pubs and shops on walks. We plan barbecue on Saturday.

Travel - Nearest stations are Pulborough and Haslemere. Taxi to site. Car share via others booked. Can also arrange lifts from station with those attending (booked in advance).

Cost of event, £49 per person for 2 nights camping. Includes 2 guided walks, and option to borrow tents etc. Cost includes contribution for all gas and wood purchased for cooking & campfires plus all other incidental expenses. Cost also includes full group membership for 12 months, all day walks free for all members for whole 12 month period. Reduced price for existing members.
