We have another nostalgia afternoon at the Kew Musical Museum. This Autumn they have a season of Hollywood musicals plus a famous silent film, this autumn a Haloween special.
The Phantom of the Opera is the 1925 silent horror film adaptation of Gaston Leroux’s novel. The deformed Phantom haunts the Paris Opera House, causing murder and mayhem in an attempt to make the woman he loves a star. The film is famous for Chaney’s ghastly make-up which was kept a studio secret until the film’s premiere.
Donald MacKenzie, the renowned organist from London’s Odeon Luxe Leicester Square, makes a welcome return and will be presenting the film from the Museum’s Mighty Wurlitzer with a specially improvised score.
Cost is £17.50 for tickets. Includes complimentary Bloody Mary from the bar. Venue is a short walk from Kew Bridge station, or from Gunnersbury ( District & Overground).
We are meeting in the tea room on the 1st floor from 1.30pm.Meet at table facing river, "Adventures on High Teas" book on table for identification. £2 fee for meet up costs. A good knowledge of English history required for event.
