Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) is an annual observance on November 20 that honors the memory of the transgender people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence.

TDOR was started in 1999 by transgender advocate Gwendolyn Ann Smith as a vigil to honor the memory of Rita Hester, a transgender woman who was killed in 1998.

In honor of those in our community and the world who have suffered violence or death, a special spoken-word and candle-lighting vigil will be held on the evening of the 20th at 6:30 PM at First Presbyterian Church downtown. This event is hosted at a church, but it is not a religious service.

All are welcome.

Please Note: This is an event hosted by a third party. Rainbow Connections is not involved in the planning of the vigil. However, if you would like to help plan or participate in the vigil, please contact Carrie.
