Encouraging Children to Pray: Interfaith Talks & Raising Faith® Holiday Event

Details

We are ending the year with a little something for the mind and the spirit! The holiday season is a busy time of gatherings and prayer. So, we have planned an event to help you, and the young people in your care, do both a little "Better".

Prayer is an important component in the development of a personal relationship with God. During the holiday season, our focus on thankfulness and blessings is heightened, a great time to engage in discussions on the value of prayer and prayer habits with the young people in our lives. Teaching Children to Pray is a panel discussion, exploring the many ways kids learn to pray from a range of faith perspectives. Together, we will discover the ways prayer is introduced, taught and encouraged for children across different faiths. Speakers will provide Islamic, Jewish, Bahai & Christian perspectives on encouraging prayerfulness among kids and teens. The discussion will reveal strategies that you can try with your kids, godchildren, students, or youth ministries, encouraging all to remember the true meaning of the holiday season.

After our panel discussion, we will flip the script for a little relaxed holiday gathering preparation. This has been a great fall for us, covering everything from the Jewish High Holidays to the Bahai Bicentennial, in an effort to grow interfaith understanding to share with our kids and teens. So, our holiday event will be an opportunity to kick back and relax. Wines for Humanity conducts formal wine tastings, donating to charities with every event. So, we will "party with a purpose"! Our wine expert will guide us through food pairing, regional differences, and more, as we enjoy sampling their selections from Italy, Chile, Germany & France. Our wine tasting event was our most coveted event last year, and we are expecting the same enjoyable experience to end the year on December 2nd.

Space is limited for this event, so secure your seat soon! We ask that you bring a pair of socks for donation to Covenant House, as well. (optional) Covenant House offers drop-in services to homeless teens here in Chicago. A pair of socks can go a long way in keeping them warm this holiday season. See you soon!
