Title:
Leverage Kafka to build a stream processing Platform as a Service

Speaker:
Jessy Jordan, Staff Software Engineer - Frontend, Meroxa

Abstract:
In this talk, you’ll learn how we built our stream processing platform as a service (PaaS) at Meroxa with Apache Kafka at its core. You’ll not only learn why we chose Kafka as an integral part of our infrastructure, but also how we leveraged Kafka in a micro-service architecture successfully. We’ll share our learnings on using Kubernetes for managing Kafka instances, on continuous monitoring of Kafka connectors and how Kafka contributes to the outstanding scalability, observability and extensibility of our platform.

Bio:
Jessy Jordan is a Staff Software Engineer at Meroxa, where they create accessible user interfaces as part of the UI team. In addition to her day job, she contributed to open-source as part of the Ember Learning Team & OpenTechSchool, and leads IT workshops and meetups about JavaScript in her hometown Berlin. Jessy has spoken at conferences around the world about the importance of accessibility, web animations and web standards. In their spare time, they enjoy graphic novels and learning new human languages.
