Bedford Toastmasters Club Meeting
Details
Join the Bedford Toastmaster's Club to meet new people, learn new skills, and get a great start to your Tuesday. Guests always welcome.
Toastmaster's teaches leadership and public speaking skills through hands-on application! Each meeting is led by a Toastmaster who makes sure all the roles are filled, and that the meeting starts and ends on time. Meetings follow a standard agenda with lots of opportunities for everyone to participate.
The structure for a typical meeting is as follows:
-
MEETING OPENS: The Sargent at Arms opens the meeting and introduces the Toastmaster.
 -
TOASTMASTER INTRODUCTION: The Toastmaster starts the meeting, introduces the theme, and calls on members to explain their role at the meeting.
 -
INVOCATION: One member delivers a brief invocation
 -
SPEECHES: One to three speeches - The speeches begin! At a meeting one to three Toastmasters will give a 5-7 minute speech; usually based on a theme from a Toastmaster's manual or one of the Pathways projects.
 -
TIMEKEEPER REPORT: After the speeches, the Timekeeper gives a timers report.
 -
TABLE TOPICS: The Table Topics Master brings up three members for 1-2 minute of impromptu talks. Once you learn to do this, you'll never be put "on the spot" again.
 -
EVALUATIONS: Each speech is evaluated by a different member. Evaluations help us practice impromptu speaking and giving feedback.
 -
GENERA EVALUATION: A member gives a general evaluation of the meeting, while the Grammarian highlights uses of um's and ah's and also great use of language.
 -
PRESIDENT's REPORT: The President gives a brief club business report and closes the meeting.
