Dark Carnival 2025: Do It For The Beast (Vaarn 2E)

Welcome back to The Dark Carnival!

Raleigh Tabletop RPGs' annual horror TTRPG event day is back for 2025 and better than ever! 8 fantastic GMs are here to run 8 sessions of spooky, scary, suspenseful, and even silly chills and thrills at RUMAH in downtown Raleigh.

This event is a sign-up for "Do It For the Beast," a game run using Vaarn 2E (Preview Edition) by RTR member etke that will run during the first block of sessions from 11am-3pm. Please see below for all the important details.

Session Title: Do It For the Beast
System: Vaarn 2E (Preview Edition)
Players: 3-6
Materials: The GM will have dice, character sheets, copies of the rules, and pencils
Description: People are vanishing from the quiet town of Nukmip. Rumors spread of pale scarred figures who steal folk from their beds and bleed them beneath the trees. The few survivors who find their way back from the woods are hollow-eyed, their flesh pocked with strange scars, whispering only of their duty to the Beast. With fear hanging over every household, the town council puts out a call for adventurers to uncover the fate of the missing and restore peace to Nukmip.

But those who lurk in the shadows speak with one voice: everything is done for the Beast—and soon, they will expect you to do the same.
