What we’re about
The Great Raleigh Cleanup is a group for people who want to rid the Raleigh area of its litter problem. It’s for those who’ve seen the problem, decided not to blame anyone but instead to do something about it. We meet 3-4 times a mont, most often on Saturdays or Sundays. Our aim is to leave the area 100x better than we found it! Sometimes that means climbing into ditches and streams but safety is always our #1 priority. All cleanups take place within Raleigh unless otherwise clearly noted! Signup even if there is a waitlist. People change their minds all the time.
Quarterly we will have a 'Kid-Friendly' cleanup. These occur on Raleigh greenways and will be clearly noted in the event title. Bring the kiddos out to these.
We also have a program called Adopt the Block. It's perfect for those that are unable to make it out to the group cleanups. We can even hold a cleanup for you and your coworkers. Email with any questions.

Led by Heather, it's an even numbered month so we’ll cover more miles of roadway in need of attention but less densely littered than some other TGRC endeavors. We will have maps of ~1 mile stretches of road (2 miles back and forth) to assign to pairs.
We are capped at 20 adult volunteers, only ages 16 and up. All materials are provided. Just bring community and impact!
After the cleanup, Papa John’s at 98/Old Creedmoor Road has graciously donated five XL pizzas. We’ll have a canopy and will provide hand sanitizer, napkins, reusable plates & cutlery. Please share your pizza topping preferences and whether you are game to bring a side or dessert in addition to some that Heather will make. Bring your own beverage.
