What we’re about
The Great Raleigh Cleanup is a group for people who want to rid the Raleigh area of its litter problem. It’s for those who’ve seen the problem, decided not to blame anyone but instead to do something about it. We meet 3-4 times a mont, most often on Saturdays or Sundays. Our aim is to leave the area 100x better than we found it! Sometimes that means climbing into ditches and streams but safety is always our #1 priority. All cleanups take place within Raleigh unless otherwise clearly noted! Signup even if there is a waitlist. People change their minds all the time.
Quarterly we will have a 'Kid-Friendly' cleanup. These occur on Raleigh greenways and will be clearly noted in the event title. Bring the kiddos out to these.
We also have a program called Adopt the Block. It's perfect for those that are unable to make it out to the group cleanups. We can even hold a cleanup for you and your coworkers. Email with any questions.

See you all soon! - Red Hat Landfill Diversion - The Flaming Lips and Modest Mouse (TIME TBD)Red Hat Amphitheater, Raleigh, NC
Help us divert hundreds of cans from the landfill at Red Hat Amphitheater!
This isn’t your typical TGRC event—we’re diverting recyclable aluminum during a live concert. Volunteers get free show entry, a food/drink coupon, and can enjoy the music before and during their 3-hour shift.
Important: You’re welcome to arrive early and catch the openers but signing up, you are agreeing to volunteer during the listed time. A TGRC rep will be on-site near Gate 4 (behind the canopies) to check you in and give you your supplies.
Please do not ask Live Nation staff for entrance—they are not involved with volunteer check-in.
Note: This is a late-night event, and you’ll likely smell like beer by the end (comes with the territory).
Open to volunteers ages 16 and up.
SUMMER REMINDER: It is getting quite hot outside. Please remember to be hydrating throughout the day and the night before a volunteer event. We are outside, in the sun, for a majority of our events. Bring your reusable water bottles and we will have water you can fill them up with. Wear a hat, sunscreen, spf shirt, or whatever else you need to stay safe and cool. No piece of litter is worth your wellbeing!

- Lord Huron - Landfill Diversion @ CCUMPCoastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek, Raleigh, NC
Join us at Coastal Credit Union for a landfill diversion event. Our job is to divert as much aluminum as possible from the parking lots and during the post-show pick. We need at least 15 volunteers for pre-show and 5 volunteers to stick around for the post-show pick!
Volunteer shift is for 2 hours but you're welcome to continue longer if you'd like to. We typically start an hour before the opener and go an hour into the opener. Once the shift is done you are able to attend the show from the lawn! Note: This is a late-night event, and you’ll likely smell like beer by the end (comes with the territory).
More details, including finalized start time and parking instructions, will be shared closer to the event.
