Greetings fall hikers,
The foliage should peak for this hike. Wynn Mntn. is a few miles west of Milford, more than an hour drive for most Rockingham county people. It's not too far from Purgatory Falls. My brother Ken hikes it a lot. He says it's one of the nicer, slightly moderate hikes in the area. On a clear day there's a good view of Boston and the Monadnock region hills. He will lead the hike.
We'll meet at the Lyndeborough community center off Center Road, or you can car pool with me from the Raymond area. I'll drive route 101 west until I get to Amherst. If you're between Raymond and Amherst, I can pick you up on the way. I have room for 3. There's very little room for parking at the base of the trail so car pooling is essential. We'll coordinate the final car pool at the community center at 10:45. The community center may not look busy and it looks like a church. There is a large grassy area off to the side where we'll park to coordinate the drive to Wynn Trailhead.
Wynn mntn is privately owned. The owner graciously allows hiking on his property.
There's the usual rocks, roots, ruts, uneven surfaces along the trail. We'll go up and down the same trail. It involves hiking uphill for quite a while.
After the hike, if the weather is decent, I'll drive to the Milford Pumpkin festival. If we do that, it will be a long day.
Bring water, a snack and any allergy meds you may need. Be prepared for rain. If it's nasty weather, I'll cancel.
