Greetings fellow hikers,
I got permission to hike on private property conserved by Bear Paw Land trust.
It is Al Jaeger's property in Deerfield. Part of great Brook runs thru Al's property.
He has lived off the grid there since the 70s. He's an artist, mostly works with clay materials. He has a show room on the property. His property is one of the Deerfield arts festival sites. He has the hottest kiln in the state, used by the NH pottery guild & league of craftsmen. His property has a pond with a ledge overlooking it. There are a few wood bridges crossing the brook. Expect this to be a 5 + mile hike if we check out Al's property. If he's around, he may allow us to see his show room & walk his amazing garden. Al has done much of the trail work on Great Brook. This could go over 3 hours. Al is a retired Board of Director for Bear Paw & still involved.
I'll have a sign at the parking area so you will know when you get to the parking area entrance. Part of Coffeetown road is dirt. The trail is part of Burbank Woods. From route 43, drive south on Coffeetown Road for approximately 1.5 miles. The parking area is on the right. If you come in from Nottingham road, take Cate road. Cate road runs into Coffeetown road. 84 Coffeetown road on GPS should get you very close to the entrance. There's room for about 10 cars, if everyone drives, then some will not have a parking spot. Please offer to car pool. I can take 3 people. If you're coming from Exeter or the seacoast area, you can park at my house and ride with me. If you're coming from the Derry area, it may also be good to ride with me.
