*The Raleigh-Durham Tennis Meetup*

Hi meetup members. Come out and play some fun tennis and meet new people. Tuesday and Thursday nights are back. Just remember that, if you RSVP to the event you must show up. All NO SHOWS, will be subject to immediately banning from future play. We must be courteous to each other and respect the meetup due to the cost and effort put into organizing this event. Members who place themselves on the WAITLIST, will be automatically moved to an open spot, so please check your email regularly, because you are subject to the same no show rules. NEW EVENT FEE: $1.50 (Please bring exact change when possible) This event is for all genders that are between a 2.5 and 3.0 Most players in attendance will be a 3.0, so even if you are weaker, you should feel comfortable playing players at this level. Singles is a sport that requires all players in attendance. Please only sign up if you are sure you will attend. Please arrive on time. 2.5 Learning to judge where the ball is going although court coverage is weak. Can sustain a short rally of slow pace with other players of the same ability. 3.0 Fairly consistent when hitting medium-paced shots, but is not comfortable with all strokes and lacks execution when trying for directional control, depth or power. The $1.50 event fee can be paid at the event and goes towards the cost of balls and meetup fees. Since balls cost more than $2 per can, and usually are lively after one use, new cans of balls will be used in up to 2 events (dependent on wear).

WHO IS WELCOME: Men and Women 2.5 and Above (http://files.meetup.com/152783/NTRP%20Levels.pdf) PREPAYMENT & REFUNDS: Pre-payment is NOT REQUIRED for this event, since this event does not employ a waitlist or an attendee limit. We accommodate everyone that would like to attend. Please pay your $1 event fee at the event. RULES: Please arrive on time. Attendees do not need to bring a partner. Balls are provided. Event lasts 2 hours (3 sets). Please be prepared to stay for the duration of the event. Please bring water and wear proper tennis shoes. Warm-up is the first 10 minutes. Introductions follow. Event is round-robin. The event leader will explain rules and court assignments. RSVP POLICY: Excessive no-shows will result in being banned for a month or completely removed from the group. EVENT FEE: This event costs less than others because it does not have reserved courts, utilize liability insurance or incur credit card fees. Nonetheless, we monitor potential court conflicts and only hold this event when courts are known to be available.

And if you are on the waiting list and no longer have plans to attend, please change your RSVP to No. Thanks! COST: In the colder months, there is a huge financial risk to reserving courts. This is further exacerbated by the RSVP changes which has reduced the number of attendees. As such, from October 29 and through the winter, this event will only be scheduled when courts are not reserved by other groups . . . and we'll only be using a portion of Lions Park's 8 courts. We will not reserve courts and will pass this savings on to you. Please pay the event leader your $1 event fee.
