8:00 AM Saturday Doubles @ Lions

Lions Park Tennis Courts

This event opens for RSVPs 4 days prior to the event at 6 AM. WHO IS WELCOME: Men and Women 2.5 and Above (http://files.meetup.com/152783/NTRP%20Levels.pdf) RULES: Please arrive on time. Attendees do not need to bring a partner. Balls are provided. Event lasts 2 hours (3 sets). Please be prepared to stay for the duration of the event. Please bring water and wear proper tennis shoes. Warm-up is the first 10 minutes. Introductions follow. Event is round-robin. The event leader will explain rules and court assignments. RSVP POLICY: Excessive no-shows will result in being banned for a month or completely removed from the group. WAITING LIST: If a spot opens up, persons on the waiting list will automatically get RSVP'd to the event. As such, please no last minute drop-outs. And if you are on the waiting list and no longer have plans to attend, please change your RSVP to No. Thanks! COST: In the colder months, there is a huge financial risk to reserving courts. This is further exacerbated by the RSVP changes which has reduced the number of attendees. As such, from October 29 and through the winter, this event will only be scheduled when courts are not reserved by other groups . . . and we'll only be using a portion of Lions Park's 8 courts. We will not reserve courts and will pass this savings on to you. Please pay the event leader your $1 event fee.

8 AM 3.25 to 4.0 Singles

Optimist Park

$1.50 EVENT COST This event is for all genders that are between a strong 3.0 and 4.0. Most players in attendance will be a 3.5, so whether you are weaker or stronger, attend if you are comfortable playing 3.5 players. Singles is a sport that requires all players in attendance. Please only sign up if you are sure you will attend. Please arrive on time. RSVPs open each Sunday at 12 Noon. 2.5 Learning to judge where the ball is going although court coverage is weak. Can sustain a short rally of slow pace with other players of the same ability. 3.0 Fairly consistent when hitting medium-paced shots, but is not comfortable with all strokes and lacks execution when trying for directional control, depth or power. Most common doubles formation is one-up and one-back. 3.5 Has achieved improved stroke dependability with directional control on moderate shots, but still lacks depth and variety. Starting to exhibit more aggressive net play, has improved court coverage and is developing teamwork in doubles. 4.0 Has dependable strokes, including directional control and depth on both forehand and backhand sides on moderate shots, plus the ability to use lobs, overheads, approach shots and volleys with some success. Occasionally forces errors when serving and teamwork in doubles is evident. Rallies may be lost due to impatience.

These balls have plenty of life in them, and our 8 AM players have not expressed a need to keep the balls. Since this eliminates the cost for this event, we are passing the savings on to you!
