Updated 4/26 adding second talk!
6:30 pm: Repeatable Workflow for Earning Trades - Amin Khribi. Following Up in our series of educational talks on Earnings Trades, we will hear from Amin Khribi, who is the man behind [Earnings-Watcher.com](http://earnings-watcher.com/), https://earnings-watcher.com/wiki/ . These seems easily the clearest and most methodical site on Earnings Trading that I have found so far. Take a look and you will see what I mean. There are excellent ideas that I think anyone with their own earnings trading approaches could adopt or adapt!
I think Amin’s talk will help everyone synthesize and rationalize the Earnings concepts we have heard in other talks, and plan their own earnings trading. And we will try to get to the bottom line of what works and what does not.
He will discuss from among the following themes:
-Scanning for earnings worth trading (Calendar, Data Picks, Vol Scanner)
-Finding the Edge: Confirming Behavior with Stats (IV Rush, Long/Short Vol, “Stats not Vibes”)
-Modeling Payoff and IV Crush, Comparing Trade Structures
We will have LOTS of time for questions and comments! Certainly his conclusions will be fair game for questions.
7:35 pm: Demo of Research and Testing Earnings Trades Using free QuantConnect with free Data - Don Brady
Don will be at the Library to demo the capabilities of QuantConnect. QuantConnect includes free Earnings Dates and data, including historical, programmable Universe Selection, outstanding back testing and research platforms, and options data.
Does any other platform match that? I do not think so but come and let us know.
I will demo their sample template earnings option strategy that you can just adapt to your needs with easy minor changes at first until you are comfortable coding in QuantConnect.
At the end of this talk, for local members in attendance at the Library only, I will also add a couple of tips on how to sign up with QuantConnect totally for free and stay that way (or $10 a month with priority) ! Anyone can do it but most people will take a while to figure out how. I will also mention some other QuantConnect data tips not generally known. These will not be online or on the recording.
Where possible please come to the Library to chat with them in person as time permits at Oberlin Regional Library, 1930 Clark Ave, Raleigh, NC. We still need a decent turnout to keep getting access to the Library. If you cannot RSVP, just come without RSVPing.
