6:30 pm Migrating a very successful S&P 500 futures trading system to be an Options Strategy

We will continue our group study series, taking a very detailed look this time at the Dynamics of Luc Van Hof's Slingshot Option Strategy from Aeromir, as he presented it in the outstanding Aeromir RoundTable video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDCCoZWWaTs .

If you learn the ideas behind this strategy, you will in my opinion have made a major step toward understanding trading systems and the role options can play in trading.

I am going to give my understanding of the full underlying Enigma trading system, as well as the Options Overlay. Ed Toulauskas will also be here and we should have a good dialogue. This should be a pretty unique meeting as Ed is into similar trades.

The video we are studying got one of the highest ever viewer counts on Aeromir. Please try to watch it ahead of time if you have time. We previously looked just at the setup stage of the strategy. Now we will cover the overall strategy.

The idea of this video is a quite profound one - namely that you can transform a non-options trading system into an options based one. Moreover, Luc shows us exactly how he did it.

If this is bears out, we have tremendous new opportunities for trading options! I for one intend to do so.

The first step is to thoroughly understand what Luc has done. Just casually watching the video will not get you there. We need to follow it in depth. And that is what we are doing as a group exercise. There is no point watching a lot of videos if one never really understands them.

We looked at the setup previously, and will review the setup, so you do not need to have attended before. Then, there is lots of value to get from understanding the dynamic twists and turns of this trade, including:
- Is it fair to postulate a favorable legged-in initial position?
- How this trade interacts with the underlying non-options Enigma Strategy, and what is the Enigma Strategy (as best we can know)
- Is this a good idea, basing an option strategy off an index trend following strategy?
- How does this differ from the more common option income strategies?
- How to track the trade on an option analysis tool
- Understanding the Adjustments
- Understand the Built-in Black Swan Hedge and risk profile

Luc will not be attending but was supportive when I checked with him. He is a famous hedge fund manager formerly with Morgan Stanley, and has also managed money for a major European Government entity.
