About us

A monthly club for people who enjoy reading and discussing literature. Books will be selected by Susan, librarian extraordinaire. Maybe you’ve read them before or maybe you haven’t, but are you glad you re-read them now that you have?

Inspired by The Rewatchables podcast, we will plunge into books with heedless determination and joy.

Discussions kick off with the following topics:

  • Most “re-readable” passage – be prepared to share it aloud with the group
  • What’s aged the best?
  • What’s aged the worst?
  • Hot takes
  • Probably unanswerable questions
  • What piece of memorabilia would you want from this work?

Criteria for selection

  • Short (around 200 pages or less). This ensures everyone can get through the selection and not feel resentful if they find it a waste of time
  • “Classic” or having “some” age. Something or someone you’ve probably heard of or always meant to read. It’s stood the test of time.
  • Influential. The work has had some cultural or literary impact.
  • Worthy of discussion. Interesting, controversial, gorgeous, maddening, award winning?
  • Easy to obtain.
