Rebuilding Aloha in Our Communities & Healing Ourselves Today
Across the country, many of us are feeling concern about rising polarization, erosion of trust in institutions, and growing strain on democratic norms. It can feel overwhelming — and isolating.
REACHOUT was created in response to this moment.
We believe that democracy is not sustained by institutions alone, but by the strength, integrity, and engagement of everyday people in their communities. When trust erodes locally, democracy weakens nationally. When we rebuild connection and accountability where we live, democracy strengthens.
This in-person forum is a space to come together — not to argue, but to engage constructively. Not to inflame division, but to build resilience.
Together, we will explore questions such as:
- What does community require of us in times of democratic strain?
- How do trust and accountability function at the local level?
- What behaviors strengthen — or weaken — civic life?
- How can we stay engaged without burning out or turning against one another?
- What concrete, day-to-day actions help protect democratic norms?
- Where do we already see courage and resilience in our communities?
This is not a lecture. It is a collaborative conversation focused on thoughtful engagement, bridge-building, and prosocial action.
Come connect. Come share. Come organize in ways that are grounded, principled, and hopeful.
Democracy is not abstract. It lives — or falters — in our relationships with one another.
We look forward to being in community with you.
