Build Chrome extensions with React to Super Power your SaaS
By Damian Karzon, Principal Software Engineer @ Pinch Payments
At Pinch we recently launched a Chrome Extension for our customers to give them contextual payment information while they are in other connected systems. Let's take a look at how to go about building a chrome extension, making use of the Chrome Runtime, React and Side Panel APIs, understanding extension permissions (What you can get access to without asking and what you can ask for) and tying it all together into a seamless user experience.
What really is React?
By Mark Lawlor, Software Engineer @ Expo
React is often described as "just JavaScript," but how does it integrate with JSX, something that isn't JavaScript? This talk explores the broader applications of React, including not only websites and mobile apps but also CLI tools, desktop applications, the Xbox dashboard, and video game UIs. Learn about React Renderers, the underlying libraries that drive React, and how both React and React Native are merely beginning to unlock the full potential of this versatile framework.
🫂 W H O
Damian Karzon currently manages the developer program at Pinch Payments, building, maintaining and talking about products such as an API payment gateway and an accounting system integrated invoice automatic payment solution. In the past has worked for many other startups and has experience across a wide range of technologies from frontend and backend web frameworks to mobile apps and games to TV and console apps.
Mark Lawlor is a software developer at Expo working on Expo Router, the Expo SDK & improving React Native RSC compatibility. He's also building NativeWind, which allows TailwindCSS styling within React Native. He's built a wide range of software such as a Real Estate CRM, a precious metal trading platform, virtual construction site assistants & before GDPR was running machine learning algorithms on your social media profile.
