Welcome to the Long Beach Reactive Dog Meetup! We're glad you're here! And so is your dog, even if they don't know it yet.

This is a structured walk for reactive dogs, not a social event. The goal is for dogs to practice being calm in the presence of other dogs. Maintaining distance is critical. Please read the rules and RSVP for the event before attending.

All dogs must wear a COLOR-CODED BANDANA or leash wrap.
🔴 Red — maximum distance, do not approach
🟡 Yellow — ask the owner before approaching
🟢 Green — friendly and not reactive

HOW WE TRAIN
We are a positive reinforcement group. During the walk, reward your dog for checking in with you, relaxed body language, and disengaging from other dogs.

Keep distance. Only move closer when your dog is consistently relaxed. This should feel boring. If your dog is reacting, give more space, even if you're already far away.

We ask that you leave prong collars, e-collars, choke chains, and slip leads used as chokers at home. No judgment if you have used them. Many people are introduced to these tools by trainers with the best of intentions. But they can increase reactivity by pairing discomfort with the presence of other dogs, which is exactly what we're working to undo.

After every walk, allow time for decompression: a solo sniff walk, a long-lasting chew, or quiet rest. Stress without decompression is just stress.

Calm dogs are welcome too! They serve as regulation models for the group.
