Maybe some of you still remember the legendary very first talk about the "Promises and Perils of Microservices" back in 2017? And there was another great second talk given in 2019 "Getting (service) design right"!
Well, now we have another opportunity to listen to Uwe Friedrichsen, who will join us again!
Uwe writes: "Microservices are it! It's how modern IT systems are built! Microservices reduce complexity! Microservices are needed for scalability! Everybody does microservices! We want them! We need them!
Microservices were a big hype in the last few years and meanwhile they reached mainstream - and their difficulties become apparent. About time to adjust the picture!
In this session, we will first examine in which places microservices add value and where they just add accidental complexity. Then we will have a look at all the things that you additionally need to take care of to actually get the benefits from microservices (and that are usually forgotten). To complete the picture, we finally will have a look at (better) alternative options for the places where microservices do not add any value.
After this session, we will have busted some of the popular microservices myths and you will have a better understanding, when to use them - and when to avoid them."
Uwe Friedrichsen travels the IT world for many years, always in search of innovative ideas and concepts. His current focus areas are system design, resilience, sustainability and making IT a (bit) better place. Often, you can find him at conferences sharing his ideas, or as author of articles, blog posts, tweets and more.

When you arrive in the ICON tower, walk straight to the info point and ask for a visitor’s card for Dynatrace (22nd floor). They will explain your way to tower 24.
Walk through the 1st glass door. At the 2nd glass door you will need your visitor’s card (left side) hold it against the card reader to open.
At the turn stiles, hold your visitor card against the card reader, walk through and have a look at the screen on your slide (while entering).
The screen will display a letter (A-D) which elevator you need to take.
At the elevator entrance is a small display showing you the floor where it is going -> enter if you see the number 22.
