Inferno!

Details

Hi Friends,
At some stage in our careers/paths we'll innevitably find ourselves in the woods of technical debt.
I think some one famous and knowledgable once said that:
"technical debt starts with your first line of code"!

To further the sense of existenstialism, I'm reminded of the opening passages of Dhantes Inferno :

When half way through the journey of our life,
I found that I was in a gloomy wood,
because the path which led aright was lost.
And ah, how hard it is to say just what
this wild and rough and stubborn woodland was,
the very thought of which renews my fear!

just replace wood with code and it'll make sense.

So, hopefully Mikael will guide us away from the circles of hell and bring us closer to coding divinity!

And if you missed them at FE Forum we're graced to have Jessica and Joakim, who will be speaking about something very hot just now: multiplatform apps!

Etraveli will be hosting in their completely new offices in Skeppsbron, so remember to clean your shoes!

And also, React Day Berlin have kindly given us a free ticket to the conference! could you be the lucky winner of the lotteri??

See you there,
/Stephen.

From Technical Debt to Technical Health
Mikael Vesavuori

What is technical debt, really? How does it affect your software, and how can you practically measure it in time, money, and impact? This topic is often mysterious and covered in vagaries, and I'll remove much of that mystery stuff by providing clear, actionable ways in working toward technical health, from basics to advanced topics.

Server-Driven UI using React-ish

Building apps is hard! If your apps need to work on multiple platforms in an organization with ever-changing requirements – then it’s really hard. So, we have to take a shortcut and use React Native or Flutter. Right?
Wrong! We chose a different path.
We let the server drive our apps. This way, we avoid code duplication, and the apps can shine. Easier and more fun for developers. Better for customers! We want to share our approach.
