React Vienna Goes Genussmeile (Baden bei Wien to Mödling)
Hosted by React Vienna
Details
It's the time of the year when you go out to the vineyards and find some grape juice (or even sturm!). That's exactly what we are going to do with the React Vienna crew. Here's the plan:
- 13:30 - Meet at the front of Baden bei Wien railway station (the city side). Expect to spend roughly six euros on the train trip unless you have city card (cheaper then since the cost is only from the border). We'll go 13:30 sharp so please be on time or join us a later checkpoint listed below.
- 14:30 - Visit Theresienwarte sighseeing tower after going through the main sights of the town. Next we'll continue to the Genussmeile (it's full of booths). See https://www.thermenregion-wienerwald.at/genussmeile for details.
- 15:00 - Meet a local winemaker at booth B18: Weinbau Berger & Messinger south of Skryanz Mosthutte (see https://www.thermenregion-wienerwald.at/uebersichtsplan for exact location, it's near Pfaffstatten). We'll do a winetasting session (also non-alcoholic options) and enjoy delicious cake. If you don't want to climb, join us here. In case you don't want to continue (about 10 km till Mödling), you can take a train from Pfaffstatten back to Vienna.
- 16:00 - Check out Gumpoldskirchen (about half-way from Pfaffstatten)
- 17:00 - End the journey at Mödling. That's the end of the trip and you can take a train back from here to Vienna.
Especially timing after 15:00 isn't strict and it's only a rough estimate. In case the weather is fine, expect a lot of people on the route. There is a lot of food and drink (over 50 booths) so I'm certain you won't go hungry/thirsty.
