Joseph Sheridan LeFanu, In A Glass Darkly. Part I
Details
Joseph Sheridan LeFanu (1814-73) was one of the principal writers of sensation and supernatural stories in the third decade of the nineteenth century. He is best remembered for a collection of short stories called In A Glass Darkly (1872). It was a highly influential work even to the extent that Bram Stoker's 1897 seminal vampire novel, Dracula, has character called a Van Helsing while the stories and novellas in In A Glass Darkly are held together by a character with a similar name, Hesselius. On this occasion we will be reading the first three stories in the collection. 'Green Tea', 'The Familiar', and 'Mr Justice Harbottle.'
The text of the collection can be found here: https://www.gutenberg.org/files/37172/37172-h/37172-h.htm It is not necessary to have read the works to take part in the meeting. All are welcome.
