T.S. Eliot's 'Burnt Norton'
Details
T.S. Eliot (1888-1965) was an American who made his home in England and became the leading poet of modernism in the English language. He came to prominence with his poem The Waste Land (1922) which was written in the wake of the devastation and disorientation of the First World War. Before and during the Second World War he published four long poems on the theme of time which collectively are known as Four Quartets. At this meeting we will be reading the first of them, Burnt Norton (1936).
