Yeats’s Poetry III: The Tower
Details
At this meeting, having looked at several poems from the 1921 Michael Robartes collection, we will focus on poems from perhaps Yeats’s greatest collection, The Tower (1928). In these poems Yeats addresses the great events of the time, such as the troubles in Ireland in the early 1920s, and the more personal issues of art and ageing.
From Michael Robartes (1921): Sixteen Dead Men, The Second Coming, A Prayer for My Daughter.
From The Tower (1928): The Tower, Meditations in the Time of Civil War, Nineteen Hundred and Nineteen, Among School Children, Leda and the Swan.
