What we’re about

This group is for those who are interested in reading ancient Greek texts. We aim to be inclusive of the whole range of ancient Greek literature, including not only the classics, but also philosophy, New Testament, Christian and Byzantine literature.

No previous background in Greek is required, although I recommend you acquaint yourself with some of the resources I will post in the Discussion. My hope is that people of many different levels and backgrounds will join us so that we can all benefit from one another.

A typical meeting will generally consist of a brief background discussion of the text, then diving in and reading line by line or word for word, depending on the group's needs.

In terms of which texts we read, I think we will start with a relatively easy and seminal text like Plato's Apology. I'm very open to feedback as to which texts you would like to read.

I will also alternate, having two meetings per week, one for a classical text and another for a New Testament, Patristic, or medieval text.
