About us
Welcome to the rLab coding meet-up group.
This is a group focused on Coding in Reading and surrounding areas.
There is no strict format to many of our sessions - some people come along to join the main group discussions, others come along to sit nearby and work on anything they'd like to.
The key areas we focus on at the meets are:
Technical Communication: Communicating technical ideas clearly to people with varying levels of expertise (explaining concepts jargon free in a way that is suited to the listener).
Live Demos: Bringing code along and explaining it line by line to someone else with a different area of expertise to demonstrate understanding.
Pair Programming: A methodology that closely mimic working situations where one programmer drives (writes code) and the other navigates (verifies code written, asks questions and voices any concerns) to arrive at a solution together.
Some people who have attended
- Have pitched startup ideas to the group
- Have talked about challenges they’ve faced at work with new technologies.
- Have sought advice for starting out in their tech careers. What language to learn, how to get their first role.
- Have talked about how they as teachers approached teaching technology/coding to younger generations.
