Opening Lines of Ovid's Metamorphoses

Details

Please read this entire message: We're going to go through the first few lines of Ovid's Metamorphoses. Last time, we covered the first line or two.

If we have any new members attend, it would also be a good time to chat about the vision for the group and get a sense of what other texts you might like to explore. I would like to cover at least one medieval or neo-Latin text in another set of meetings parallel to these ones, so we'll see if there's any interest in that.

Advice for preparation: Skim through the opening four or five lines of the text and look up any unfamiliar words and, if you have time, parse them to try to get a literal sense of grammatical meaning. Don't worry if you don't get a somewhat vague or incomplete sense. We'll put the rest of the puzzle pieces together and talk about any particular difficulties that come up.

Zoom link will be posted a few minutes prior to the meeting.
